i am 21+ (26) ooc, so i prefer writing with partners who are also 21+. i will not interact with anyone under 18. i don't ERP, in or outside of the venue i work at, so i don't have rates. please don't ask.
this character is a general WIP, so please bear with me. i've just recently retired my main, who is no longer available for RP outside of close friends, although i don't see myself making exceptions, even for friends.
i don't mind a bit of lorebending. i do it too, to a degree. however, anything super insane, i probably won't acknowledge or be interested in.
shen is an ambivert, but she prefers to observe, although she might approach someone first out of curiosity, if they're particular striking, or if the say something stupid, or fascinating.

upon first glance, by appearance alone shen comes across as cold and stand-offish. this isn't a far-off assessment. she's aloof and indifferent and tends to be withdrawn and quiet unless something really interests her. as a gleaner of sharlayan, shen is naturally extremely curious and knowledge-seeking. she's an intellectual, and though not a sharlayan native, she's certainly adopted their classic air of arrogance, albeit to a less haughty degree. if her face is steeled and relatively expressionless, you can count on her ears and tail to speak for her — she's quite expressive with those. shen keeps a barrier around her, simply for her own comfort and a preference for keeping others out of her personal space. queen of boundaries, if you will. she does not enjoy people prying, nor does she enjoy being touched. she's not quick-tempered and is excellent at keeping her composure, but if you ever slip onto her bad side, you'll feel the ever-present permafrost of her icy discontent.

shen was orphaned as an infant, born in golmore jungle, rescued by a sharlayan gleaner on an excursion. growing up in old sharlayan, shen, too, was fascinated by the work of her adoptive parents, who worked as gleaners for the forum. she begged and begged to follow along on excursions, and fell in love with dravania and its glacial winters. she quickly followed in their footsteps after years of dedicating her mind into the studies at the studium. she was always quiet, preferring to observe, but wasn't afraid to pipe up when struck with passion, or to correct someone on the wrong end of being right. shen prides herself on her work and studies above all, and will put her work before anyone else, making friendships, or anything more, extremely difficult for her to maintain, except with other likeminded individuals sharing similar passions.shen eventually surpassed the limitations of what she could accomplish as a gleaner and sought out greater things, until eventually, she became one of the lauded students of baldesion. in her travels, she learned about geomancy in the far east, and it fascinated her greatly. she learned of astromancy during her stays in ishgard, and the concept of divination from earth and water struck her with a similar allure. shen spent a great deal of time in yanxia, learning all that she could from temples, relics, and teachers of the art, compiling the information in great detail to bring back to sharlayan in hopes that the knowledge would further the work of sharlayan scholars beyond conventional means. during this, she learned of her aether's affinities to water and ice. now, she wonders how people's abilities to tap into controlling their aether could aid in sharlayan's moon-bound initiative, though, firstly in its levels of study beneath the surface.

HAND TO HAND COMBAT. being a well-traveled scholar of sharlayan, she has obviously had to learn to defend herself against any ill-meaning travelers or the creatures of the realm. beyond her aether control, shen is skilled at hand-to-hand combat, having learned from martial artists in yanxia. she's quite proficient with a dagger, too.AETHER CONTROL. shen's aether is aspected to both water and ice, with both of those elements going hand in hand. she's naturally stronger with water, ice being a secondary nature of water, but with the time spent in dravania's hinterlands and coerthas, she's learned how to effectively weaponize both with a preference for quick mid-range attacks in tandem with her knives.
SCHOLAR. shen is a scholar of old sharlayan and the forum. she has something of a photographic memory, and can quickly recall information she's read, and been told. she enjoys reading tomes in depth, but is quite capable of skimming tomes with great speed if required, especially if on a deadline, whether imposed by the forum, or one she's trapped herself into with her own ambitions.bartender. shen has learned of countless recipes for drinks in the many, many tomes she's perused. she even crafts her own homemade meads for fun as a project on the side, and is learning how to brew her own ales and wines. she's an excellent drink craftsman, having the nose and palate to create the perfect pairings in perfect ratio.

shen grew up in old sharlayan, with her adoptive parents being sharlayan natives who worked as gleaners for the forum. she followed in their footsteps until she began to yearn for greater knowledge and greater adventures. she went on to become a student of baldesion and an archon of sharlayan. she's a busy bee and always out and about, chasing the next adventure, and more knowledge. if your character frequents sharlayan, they may have seen her. she's hard to miss, viera being as few and far between as they are, and her snow white hair and striking silver eyes.

shen is a new face at prophet lounge, filling in the shoes of a fearsome spitfire redhead. you can find shen quietly leaning in the shadows, watching over the venue, or behind the bar, crafting the most delicious drinks you'll ever have the pleasure of tasting. as stiff as she might seem, and curt and brusque, she makes a decent conversationalist once you get her going. tell her about your adventures, a piece of knowledge you've discovered, something you're researching. she loves a good story. she might tell you about the stars or the earth in return.

to expand upon hook one, shen travels quite a bit, even to the present day. while she's no longer a gleaner employed by the forum, she is always chasing knowledge across the world. even if it's not something new, she wants to experience the world with her own eyes, because who knows? sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes to discover something interesting upon paths worn and well-tread. there is nowhere shen won't go; you'll likely cross paths with her, somewhere. out in the wild, taking refuge in a city, studying ruins long forgotten and left to the hands of the elements.
